Track & Field Expectations

Practice: Practice begins every day at 3:15: Be on Time, Be Ready, and Work Hard. Parents please plan on practice lasting until 5:30 to 5:45, we will let athletes out early enough on Wednesday nights for church night. The length of the practice can often add up for some athletes, as they have multiple events to train for and a lifting schedule.
Missing Practice: 1 unexcused practice will result in a Saturday or morning workout with a coach.
2 unexcused practices will result in missing the next week’s meets. 3 unexcused practices will result in dismal from team.
2 excused absents in a week will result in missing the next track meet, unless previously discussed with head coach.
Respect: Respect yourself and be committed to getting better at this sport and others. Respect your teammates, help each other get better by pushing each other. Positive Remarks. Respect your coaches. Let the coach’s coach and help you become the best Hill City Track Athlete you can be. If coaches ask you to try a new event, it is not punishment; it is because they believe it is an opportunity for you to help your team. Accept the challenge and become better!
Track Meets: You will be expected to be at every track meet and stay until the last event to support your teammates. They would do the same for you. If you are done racing, be on the infield or in the stands rooting on your teammates. Cheering works! On the bus ride to track meets, we will be quiet and focused. There will be no horseplay or inappropriate behavior during practice or at meets. Such behavior could result in removal from the team, depending on the severity of the action. (ex. cussing, pushing wrestling, and no PDA) Have fun but focus on the task at hand.
Grades: You will be missing a lot of school being out for track. See your teachers before you leave for the track meet so you know what you are missing that day. School comes first, if I hear about students struggling in a class they will stay at school to get work done.
Have Fun: Track is a fun sport. You get to spend the day in the sun, cheering on your teammates and being competitive. Take advantage of this limited time you have to become bigger, faster, and stronger. Make the most of the track season and don’t look back on your year with any regrets. I cannot wait to work with each and every one of you and watch you develop into awesome young men and women!
Parents: Parents, for some of you track and field can be a new sport and experience, for others of you, you may have competed yourselves. As coaches, we ask that you support your children and trust in our training regimen. At the end of the day our goal is to help mold your children into young men and women through the sport of Track and Field. If you ever have questions about what we are doing as a program please send an email to me @ [email protected] , hopefully through email I can answer your questions, or we can set up a time for a meeting.
Thank you for your time, and GO RANGERS!
I understand the expectations of myself and my teammates, and I am committed to being the best Hill City Student Athlete I can be.
