As we approach the midpoint of the first semester, I want to remind students and families about one of the unique opportunities we provide at Hill City High School. Every morning from 7:30–8:00, every teacher in our building is available in his or her classroom to provide extra help, answer questions, review difficult concepts, or simply give students the additional support they need to be successful. This is a valuable resource that is available to every student, and I encourage our students to take advantage of it whenever they need a little extra help.
At Hill City High School, we believe that asking for help is a sign of responsibility, not weakness. Successful students recognize when they need assistance and take the initiative to seek it. Our teachers are committed to student achievement and are willing to invest the extra time necessary to help students understand the material and reach their potential. Whether a student is struggling with a particular concept, preparing for an upcoming assessment, or simply wants to make sure he or she fully understands the day's lesson, those 30 minutes before school can make a significant difference.
It is also important to remember how quickly the school year is moving. The first quarter ends on October 23, which means the first semester will already be half over. Now is the time for students to look at their grades, identify areas where they can improve, and take action before small concerns become larger ones. I encourage every student to finish this quarter strong and to make use of the resources available to them—including our teachers each morning from 7:30–8:00. At Hill City High School, we want our students to understand that their success matters to us, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help them achieve it.
